Health and Safety

  • Critical Health and Safety training

All staff complete critical health and safety training across all areas of the business. The target is 92% completions. During this reporting period we have changed the key areas which are reported for training, and now concentrate on the six statutory areas. The average training compliance dropped to 72%. The lower percentage was due to the asbestos training being put on hold while the content was reviewed, and the working at height and ladder safety training was extended to include additional job roles. We anticipate positively tracking towards the target.

  • The importance of reporting accidents

The number of accidents per 100 employees remained low at 0.47.

  • Audit completion

The planned site-based audits and desktop audits target was 69, these were achieved, with any associated actions posted on the accident and incident system.

  • Gas safety and smoke detection

We were 99.98% compliant for gas safety and smoke detection inspection against a target of 100%.

  • Asbestos processes and procedures

We are currently undertaking a review of asbestos processes and procedures. These should be completed in the 2nd half of the financial year 2019/20.

  • Legionella testing programme

The annual programme of legionella testing was 4% above the target at 99% at the end of September 2019.

  • Electrical fixed wiring improvement programme

Our electrical fixed wiring improvement programme has been reviewed to include electrical inspection condition reporting (EICR), smoke alarms and carbon monoxide monitors. The program started early September. 149 EIRC inspections were completed against a target of 140.
