Community Regeneration

At Linc, we want to support our tenants in what matters to them.  We have established our Community Regeneration team, who are working with a range of expert partners to provide employability skills and greening opportunities for our tenants across Wales, as well as providing community benefits across a range of development sites.

Key outcomes from the last 6 months include:

To support the implementation of Community Benefits activities across a range of development sites

  • Neighbourhood Meetings

    Publicised and facilitated 2 open neighbourhood meetings connected with our development and regenerations sites in City Road and Pill.

  • Community Benefits Engagement Events

    14 Community Benefits events including work with Willowtown Primary School’s memorial garden, funded by Pendragon Design and Build. A site safety poster competition with Blaengwawr Primary School and F1 Modular, and an Easter event in partnership with Llys Glyncoed Extra Care Home, Glyncoed Primary School and Morganstone.

  • Working Closely with Y Prentis

    Working closely with Y Prentis to help young people obtain work experience on site with our contractors (Jehu and Pendragon). We also facilitated a successful learning session for Y Prentis’s Apprentice Advisory Panel that included presentations and a site visit to Linc’s Modular Build Extra Care Home in Aberaman.

To develop partnerships with organisations who can deliver employability support to tenants

  • Providing Employability Skills

    Provided 23 tenants and community members with one to one employability skills, including supporting with CV’s, job applications, attending careers fayres and job interviews.

  • Supporting Tenants into Work

    Supported 6 tenants and community members into work and worked with 3 tenants to maintain their employment.

  • Supporting Tenants Gaining Work Experience

    Supported 12 tenants and community members to obtain work experience.

  • Extra Care Work Placements

    Supporting work experience placements for students at 2 different Extra Care Schemes (Glyn Anwen, Capel Court).

  • Employability Partnerships

    Met and worked with 11 employability partners. (Y Prentis, Prince’s Trust, Reslicio, Working with Families, Communities For Work Newport, Communities For Work Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly Youth Engagement and Progression Network, Blaenau Gwent Council, Encon, Business Wales, Women Returners Project).

  • Jobs Fayre Facilitation

    Facilitating a jobs fayre in partnership with DWP and Communities 4 Work in Aberdare Job Centre with over 70 application forms given out for roles associated with our new extra care development in Aberaman.

To support the implementation of the Growing Green Spaces Project

  • Co-organising and Enabling Community Planting Events

    Co-organising and enabling 11 community engagement meetings or planting events (including; Aberbeeg raised beds building day and  community planting day, Ty Scott raised beds and community planting day, Friends of Lysaght community planting day, Llys yr Efail planting day, Green Flag assessment St Mellons, Green Flag assessment Lysaght, Bee day with Buglife and Friends of Lysaght, Test Planting Barrack Lane,  Lysaght Green Flag celebration event, St Mellons summer fayre).

  • Working with Green and Environmental Partners

    Working with over 9 different green and environmental partners (including schools, Keep Wales Tidy, Buglife, Bumblebee Conservation Trust, Gwent Wildlife Trusts, Newport City Council, St Martins Church Caerphilly, Bee friendly Newport and Natural Resources Wales).

  • Collaborating with Other Housing Association and Cynnal Cymru

    Working with Cynnal Cymru to develop a consortium of other Housing Associations who will come together to develop training for all staff to raise carbon literacy awareness.
